新加坡總理府辦公室18日下午發布聲明，宣布新加坡前總理李光耀病情進一步惡化。星國當局已接連兩天發布李光耀病況惡化的消息，李光耀入住的中央醫院1樓大廳目前聚集眾多媒體記者守候，持續關注最新發展。
而中國的鳳凰衛視獨家拍攝到李光耀長孫李毅鵬，在下午4時許到院探望祖父李光耀。患有白化症的李毅鵬，快步通過媒體記者，看來神情落沒。李毅鵬是星國現任總理線上英文文法教學李顯龍和已故的第一任妻子所生，曾被李光耀形容為最疼愛的孫子。
另一方面，新加坡總理李顯龍在晚間6時，突然將臉書大頭貼更新，而且頁面刻意留白。李顯龍先前還曾在社群媒體引述總理府辦公室的聲明，指他的父親李光耀病情惡化，有數千網友留言回應並表達關切之意。
現年91歲的李光耀2月5日感染嚴重肺炎，住進新加坡中央醫院治療。網路一度傳出他病逝的消息，星國總理府辦公室隨後在2月26日發布聲明闢謠。
星國當局後來又在2月28日發布聲明，當時表示李光耀的病情稍有好轉，院方使用鎮靜劑和呼吸輔助器治療，另持續讓李光耀服用抗生素。而星國政府3月6日及13日對李光耀的病情說明均稱沒有大變化，醫師仍繼續觀察。
未料，星國總理府辦公室17日突然發布李光耀病情惡化的消息。目前李光耀病情嚴重，在加護病房接受抗生素治療，且須使用呼吸輔助器。
